CHESTERTOWN, Md. (Sept. 10, 2022) – The Washington College women's soccer team collected one goal in each half here Saturday night and went on to defeat visiting Rutgers-Camden, 2-0, in a non-conference game.
The Shorewomen improve to 3-0-1, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 0-2-1.
Washington College launched 11 shots in the opening half, but the Scarlet Raptors kept the home team off the scoreboard until the 32nd minute. Freshman Bridget Whiteside finished off a cross from senior Paige O'Connell on a play that was started by a pass from junior Audrey Flanagan.
Flanagan played a role in the Shorewomen's second goal as well, as the rebound of her saved shot was put into the net freshman Maddy Gaydon at 63:47.
Washington College finished with an 18-5 advantage in shots, including a 9-4 margin on goal. The home team also held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
Rutgers-Camden split its goalkeeping duties, with sophomore
Michaela Graham making three saves in the first half and junior
Kayla McKeever saving four shots in the second half. Both goalies allowed one goal.
Senior Gillian Slavick played the first 28:50 in goal for Washington College, making two saves. Freshman Hailey Sharpe made two saves while playing the remainder of the game.

Alexa D'Ilio and sophomore midfielder
Josie Jackson-Conner had one apiece. Senior back
Brianna Baer was the lone Raptor to play all 90 minutes.
The Scarlet Raptors play a non-conference game at Elizabethtown College Tuesday at 7 p.m.
