READING, Penn. (Sept. 19, 2022) – Sophomore forward Ryan Cogill scored a second-half tally for the lone goal of the game as the Alvernia University men's soccer team defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 1-0, in a non-conference game here Monday.
The Golden Wolves improve to 3-1-3 overall, including 2-0-2 in their last four games. The Scarlet Raptors fall to 3-4-1.
In the scoreless first half, Alvernia held advantages of 8-4 in shots and 4-2 in corner kicks. Raptor junior goalie
Sean Boen made three saves in the half, while Golden Wolves sophomore Evan Solley had two.
Alvernia broke the scoreless draw only 3:32 into the second half on a high shot to the left side of the goal for Cogill's second goal of the year. Both have been game-winning goals, with this one assisted by freshman Connor Kraycik.
The Golden Wolves held a 16-9 shots advantage in the game, including an 8-5 margin on goal. Both teams had four corner kicks.

Christian McCartney had two of the Raptors' five shots on goal.
Boen finished with seven saves, while Solley had five in his shutout.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home game against Immaculata University.
