NEWARK, N.J. (Oct. 14, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team had all the offensive statistical advantages except where it counted here Saturday night, and as a result Rutgers University-Camden played to a 0-0  deadlock with its New Jersey Athletic Conference sister school.

The tie leaves the Scarlet Raptors with an 8-4-3 mark overall and a 3-1-2 record in the NJAC. The Scarlet Raiders leave the game with a 4-7-4 record and a 2-2-2 conference mark.

Newark outshot Camden, 18-5, including 6-0 in shots on goal. The Scarlet Raiders also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Fortunately for the Scarlet Raptors, they have one of the top goalies in the NJAC in junior
Sean Boen. Boen made six saves to earn his eighth save of the season, the same number of shutouts he had last year as a NJAC Second Team keeper. He now owns 18 career shutouts, tied for the fourth-highest total in program history with James Brett (2015-18).

Rutgers-Newark junior keeper Pedro Flores earned the shutout without making a save.

Out of the five Rutgers-Camden shots, both junior
Pedro Jovel-Castro and freshman
Nathan Biersbach had two apiece. The other one was taken by freshman
Jason Angel, the Raptors' leading scorer.

Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Stockton University in another NJAC game.
