Lindsey Rodzon tossed a seven-hit shutout to give the Rutgers-Camden softball team its first win of the season here Sunday at the PFX Spring Games.
The Scarlet Raptors defeated Clarkson University (Potsdam, New York), 4-0, in their first game of the day. In the second game, Smith College (Northampton, Mass.) came within one out of throwing a five-inning perfect game against the Scarlet Raptors as the Pioneers posted a 15-0 victory.
The Scarlet Raptors (1-5) have an off day scheduled for Monday. They will resume play in the PFX Games on Tuesday in Winter Haven, Florida. They will face Edgewood College at 9 a.m. and the University of Wisconsin-Stout at 11:30 a.m.
Rutgers-Camden 4, Clarkson 0
Rodzon notched her first career shutout, scattering seven hits, walking nobody and striking out four batters. She retired the last seven batters she faced, including three of the last four on strikes.
Rutgers-Camden scored all of its runs in the first inning off freshman pitcher Lily Corrice, aided by a pair of errors that made two runs unearned. Senior right fielder
Jayden Hunter drew a leadoff walk and senior second baseman
Cate Petrucelli reached on a two-base error. One out later, freshman designated player
Bella Lynch collected her first two collegiate RBIs with a single and advanced to second. She scored on a single by sophomore third baseman

Alexa McNee, sophomore left fielder
Emily Dubiago reached on an error, scoring Hutchinson.
Corrice allowed seven hits and only two earned runs for Clarkson. She allowed four walks and struck out two.
Hutchinson went 3-for-3 to lead the Scarlet Raptor attack. Senior shortstop Bridget Twaits and sophomore catcher Elizabeth Greco both had two hits for the Golden Knights (2-5).
Smith 15, Rutgers-Camden 0 (5 inn.)
Smith College junior pitcher Abigail Fletcher threw 4.2 perfect innings against the Scarlet Raptors before an infield error spoiled her gem. She walked the next batter, freshman pinch-hitter
Kamryn Kennedy, before ending the game with a ground out.
Fletcher (1-0) finished with one walk and one strikeout while pitching the first no-hitter against Rutgers-Camden since Rowan University's Jesse DeDomenico beat the Raptors, 4-0, on April 25, 2019.
Junior catcher CeCe Alaniz went 2-for-4 with five RBIs for the 2-0 Pioneers, while sophomore center fielder Taylor Ang was 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs. Junior first baseman Juno Shantz went 1-fr-4 with one run and four RBIs.
