CAMDEN, N.J. (April 10, 2023) – Rutgers University-Camden junior
Edward McWilliams Jr. posted a marathon victory at first singles, but the Arcadia University men's tennis team won all of the other matches as it defeated the Scarlet Raptors, 8-1, in non-conference competition here Monday.
Arcadia evened its record at 3-3, while Rutgers-Camden fell to 0-7.
McWilliams posted a 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 win at the first flight. Freshman
Christopher Abacan lost at second singles, 6-0, 6-2, and senior
Hani Qureshi dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision at third singles. In the fourth spot, freshman
Jojo Nguyen lost, 6-0, 6-0, and junior
Matthew Tepfer was defeated at fifth singles, 6-4, 6-2. Freshman
Thanh Ngo lost in the sixth spot, 6-2, 6-0.
Arcadia swept all three doubles matches as McWilliams and Tepfer lost in the top spot, 8-6, Abacan and Nguyen were defeated at second doubles, 8-5, and Qureshi and Ngo lost 8-0 at third doubles.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Wednesday when they play host to a New Jersey Athletic Conference match at 3:30 p.m. against The College of New Jersey.
