LANGHORNE, Penn. (April 22, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team closed its season here Saturday as it lost a 7-2 non-conference decision against Cairn University.
Cairn improved to 7-6, while Rutgers-Camden ended its season 0-12.
Juniors
Edward McWilliams Jr. and
Matthew Tepfer combined to take an 8-6 decision at first doubles and both of them lost narrow matches in singles. McWilliams was defeated at first singles, 6-2, 3-6, 7-10, while Tepfer lost at fourth singles, 6-7 (4-7), 6-7 (4-7).
Rutgers-Camden's lone singles victory came from senior
Patrick DeMareo with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the fifth flight.
At second doubles, freshman
Christopher Abacan and senior
Hani Qureshi lost, 8-1, while the third doubles team of DeMareo and junior
Yianni Paxinos was defeated, 8-4.
Abacan lost at second singles, 6-1, 6-0 and freshman
Thanh Ngo was defeated at third singles, 6-3, 6-0. Paxinos lost at sixth singles, 6-3, 6-0.
