CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 1, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team put a stable of new talent on display in its season opener here Friday and the Scarlet Raptors came away with an impressive 4-0 victory over Arcadia University at the 22nd annual Cialella Soccer Classic. The event is named for former Rutgers-Camden athlete, coach and athletic director Ed Cialella.
The Raptors received one goal apiece from freshman forwards
Jason Angel and
Allen Jarrin, while sophomore midfielder
Tommy Monaghan collected a goal and an assist. Junior midfielder
Ethan Dreyer added the final goal, while junior back

Rutgers-Camden dominated play, holding a 16-1 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks, but managed only one first-half goal. That goal was a beauty by Angel, who fired a long shot into the far left panel for his first collegiate tally at 5:54.
The final three Raptor goals came in the last seven minutes, beginning with a perfect chip over Arcadia's goalie Stephen Connor by Jarrin at 83:14. He was assisted by Monaghan.
Monaghan got into the goal-scoring act only two minutes later when he headed home a perfect corner kick by Jovel-Castro. Dreyer added the final tally with 14 seconds remaining.
Raptor junior
Sean Boen needed to make only one save to register the shutout, while Connor had three saves for Arcadia.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday in the final game of the Cialella Soccer Classic. They host Eastern University at 6 p.m.
