Volleyball sweeps tri-match with PSU-Harrisburg, Wilkes

CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 16, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team raised its record to 4-5 as it swept a tri-match against Penn State-Harrisburg and Wilkes University here Saturday.
 
The Scarlet Raptors went to five sets before outlasting PSU-Harrisburg, 3-2, in the first match of the day. In the middle match, Wilkes defeated PSU-Harrisburg, 3-1, before the Scarlet Raptors swept the Colonels, 3-0.
 
Rutgers-Camden opens its New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. match at Rowan University.

In a match that was tight all the way, Rutgers-Camden outlasted Penn State-Harrisburg, 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-12). The Scarlet Raptors finally wrapped up the marathon victory on a kill by junior Kaitlyn Parrish.
 
Seniors Isabella Choice and Dyamond Free paced the Raptors with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, with Choice hitting .314. Parrish finished with eight kills, while junior Kaliyah Moss and senior Erica Nebrich both added seven kills.
 
Freshmen JoAnna Andrews and Sofia Granieri had 20 and 17 assists, respectively, for Rutgers-Camden.
 
Freshman Mia Owens collected 19 digs to pace the Raptors and Nebrich added 15. Andrews had 11 digs to complete a double-double with her 20 assists, and also added a team-high three service aces. Choice and Granieri had three blocks apiece.
 
Penn State-Harrisburg received a double-double of 14 digs and 11 kills from sophomore Hannah DeGregory.
 
Rutgers-Camden 3, Wilkes 0
 
The Scarlet Raptors won their second match of the day by scores of 25-16, 25-8 and 25-17.
 
Free had eight kills and hit .333, while Choice added seven kills and hit .357. Andrews led the team in assists with 17 and two service aces.
 
Sophomore Bella Craig delivered a team-high nine digs, while Free, Nebrich and Andrews each added six. Nebrich also delivered five aces to tie Owens for match-high honors.
 
The Scarlet Raptors collected seven solo blocks, including three by Moss and two apiece by Choice and Free. Choice also added two block assists to finish with four blocks.
