CAMDEN, N.J. (Jan. 17, 2024) – Rutgers University-Camden senior guard
Rahzirah Blocker became the 16th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone here Wednesday night, but the Scarlet Raptors lost to The College of New Jersey, 87-53, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
Blocker reached her milestone with a three-pointer with 2:24 remaining in the game, capping her game-high total of 24 points. With 1,000 points exactly, she moves to within 37 points of Andrea Fogel, 15th on the all-time list with her 1,037 points from 1986-89.
The victory lifted TCNJ to 10-7 overall and 7-3 in the NJAC, while Rutgers-Camden fell to 0-17 overall and 0-10 in conference play. The Lions have won their last 14 games against the Scarlet Raptors and lead the all-time series, 68-12.
TCNJ led all the way, scoring the first nine points and jumping out to a 21-10 lead after one quarter. The Lions were ahead, 42-18, at halftime and 67-38 entering the final quarter.
Junior guard Nina Branchizio and graduate guard Natalie Kolb scored 16 points apiece to lead four Lions in double figures. Kolb added a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman guard Grace Kowalski canned 14 points and sophomore guard Katie Fricker added 12.
In addition to her game-high 24 points, Blocker added a game-high 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.

TCNJ shot 35-for-71 (49.3 percent) from the floor and 9-for-11 (81.8) from the foul line. Rutgers-Camden went 20-for-57 (35.1) from the floor and 10-for-23 (43.5) from the line. The Lions held a 42-38 edge off the boards.
The Scarlet Raptors return to NJAC action Saturday with a 3 p.m. game at Montclair State University.
