ST. DAVIDS, Penn. (Oct. 19, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team closed out the fall semester portion of its schedule here Saturday on a high note, snapping a four-match losing streak with a 7-0 win at Eastern University.
The Scarlet Raptors improve to 3-4, while the Eagles fall to 0-4.
Rutgers-Camden earned its first point by sweeping the doubles matches. Graduate students
Alex Loope and
Kenil Patwa combined for a 6-3 victory at first doubles, while freshmen
Neal Shah and
Alex Turcu took a 6-4 win at the second position. In third doubles, sophomore
Julian Pinder and junior
Christopher Abacan posted a win by forfeit, when Eastern didn't field a team.
Eastern also had to forfeit the sixth singles spot to Abacan. In the singles matches that were contested, Loope won, 6-1, 6-2, at the top spot, Shah posted a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles and Patwa earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the third spot. Turcu captured a 6-1, 6-4 win at fourth singles and Pinder won, 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth spot.
The next scheduled match for the Scarlet Raptors is March 22, when they host Albertus Magnus College at 12 p.m.
