CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 24, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team played its annual "Dig Pink" match here Thursday to raise awareness and funding for research in the battle against metastatic breast cancer.
The results on the court, however, weren't as positive for the Scarlet Raptors as they lost a 3-1 match against Rowan University by the scores of 25-23, 19-25, 20-25 and 10-25.

Rutgers-Camden fell to 6-18 overall and 2-5 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while Rowan improved to 13-11 overall and 3-3 in NJAC play.
In the opening set, Rutgers-Camden rallied from a 15-11 deficit to tie the game at 15-15, aided by two aces from sophomore defensive specialist
Madison Snelgrove, sandwiched between a pair of kills from sophomore middle hitter
Mia Francis. The set remained tight the rest of the way, but with the score 23-23, the Raptors earned the final two points on a Rowan service error and a set-clinching kill by freshman middle blocker
Gabby Gbolahan.
In the second set, Rutgers-Camden took a quick 4-0 lead on four Rowan attack errors, but with a 13-12 advantage, the Raptors saw Rowan rattle off six straight points to take the lead for good.
Rowan took a 5-1 lead and never trailed on its way to a 25-20 victory in the third set, wrapping up the win with a kill from junior outside hitter Jena Kaul. In the fourth and final set, the Profs broke open a tight 7-5 lead by scoring 18 of the next 23 points.
Kaul led Rowan with 16 kills, while sophomore middle hitter Ciara Bradley had 12 kills and senior middle hitter Isa Kirchner added 11. Junior libero Vanessa Hutchinson collected 24 digs, while senior setter Brooke Adams dished off 50 assists.

Ang, who hiked her career assist total to 998 between her two years at Rutgers-Camden and freshman season at Medaille University, also completed a double-double with 15 digs.
The Scarlet Raptors close out their NJAC schedule Tuesday with a 7 p.m. match at Stockton University. Their final match of the regular season is Nov. 10 at Elizabethtown College.
