Rutgers-Camden women sweep Bryn Athyn, 9-0
BRYN ATHYN, Penn. (April 1, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team played its third match in four days here Monday and the Scarlet Raptors posted a 9-0 victory over Bryn Athyn College.
The match, which was postponed from a rainout on March 23, marked the Scarlet Raptors' first 9-0 sweep of the season and raised Rutgers-Camden's record to 4-3.
Bryn Athyn falls to 1-2 and has dropped 9-0 decisions against Rutgers-Camden during each of the past three seasons.
The Scarlet Raptors took a quick 3-0 lead by sweeping all three doubles matches, led by sophomore co-captains
Katie Moore and
Ashton Sirko, who won an 8-0 victory at the top spot. Freshmen
Alyssa Peacock and
Nicoletta Troilo combined for an 8-5 victory at second doubles, while junior
Jayde Sue Silva and freshman
Bella Martinez swept an 8-0 decision at third doubles.
Moore captured an 8-1 win at first singles, while Sirko won, 8-4, at the second flight. Silva and Martinez both posted 8-0 wins at third and fourth singles, respectively. Peacock won at fifth singles, 8-2. Troilo, who earlier in the day was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, posted an 8-1 victory at sixth singles.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Friday with a 5:30 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference match at Kean University.
