CENTER VALLEY, Penn. (Aug. 30, 2024) – The young Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team had a tough task in its season opener here Friday at the DeSales University Invitational and despite giving Stevenson University all it could handle in the first set, the Raptors fell to the Mustangs, 3-0.
Facing a team that posted a 22-8 record last season, Rutgers-Camden lost in three sets by scores of 26-24, 25-14 and 25-12.
Sophomore
Sophia Granieri paced Rutgers-Camden with seven kills and 12 digs, while freshman
Maria Theruviparambil added six kills and senior
Kaitlyn Parrish had five kills.
Junior
Avery Ang led the Scarlet Raptors with 12 assists and two aces, while adding seven digs. Sophomore
Mia Owens had 11 digs for Rutgers-Camden.
Stevenson junior Kylie DesLauriers had a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
Rutgers-Camden returns to play in the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday, facing both host DeSales at 10.m. and SUNY-Brockport at 2 p.m.
