CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2024) – The Ursinus College volleyball team outlasted Rutgers University-Camden in the final two sets to earn a 3-1 victory in a non-conference match here Tuesday.
The Bears won their third straight match by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-18 and 25-18 to raise their record to 7-3.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-7.
Senior Caroline Sherman paced the Bears with 17 kills, while hitting .372. Senior Rachel Bernard had 22 assists and sophomore Mel Eglinton collected 17 digs.
The Scarlet Raptors rallied from three eight-point deficits (10-2, 11-3 and 12-4) to make a run at the Bears in the opening set, closing to within 20-19, before Ursinus rattled off five of the next seven points for the victory.
In the second set, the Scarlet Raptors scored the final two points, including a winning kill by freshman outside hitter/right side
Maria Theruviparambil, to earn their 25-20 victory.
Ursinus won the last two sets by 25-18 scores.

Gabby Gbolahan paced Rutgers-Camden with 15 kills, while senior middle hitter/right side
Kaitlyn Parrish had 10 kills.

Avery Ang notched a double-double of 24 assists and 14 digs, while adding three service aces. Sophomore libero

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday with a tri-match at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. The Raptors play the host team at 12 p.m. and face Eastern Mennonite University at 2 p.m. Rutgers-Camden's next home match is Tuesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. when it begins New Jersey Athletic Conference play against Ramapo College.
