CAMDEN, N.J. (September 18, 2024) – The first time the Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer program ever played Bryn Athyn College, the Scarlet Raptors posted a 4-0 road victory on September 16, 2023.
The Raptors matched that outcome here Wednesday night as they defeated the Lions, 4-0, to raise their record to 2-3-2. Rutgers-Camden is 2-0-1 in its last three games, posting a shutout in each one.
Bryn Athyn falls to 2-4.
The Scarlet Raptors scored all four of their goals in the opening half, taking the lead for good when a pair of seniors combined for a goal at 7:30.
Alyson Petro lofted a long pass that sprung
Emily Owens for her team-leading third goal. She owns both game-winning goals for Rutgers-Camden, while Petro leads the team with two assists.
Barely a minute later, at 8:43, Owens' cross across the goal mouth found freshman back
Ashlee Schlagenhaft at the left post, who tapped in her first collegiate goal.
In the 26th minute, Bryn Athyn junior goalie Breanna Smith denied Raptor freshman
Asia Horne with a nice save, but the rebound fell to Rutgers-Camden senior
Josie Jackson-Conner near the first post. She finished off the play for her second goal of the season.
Horne closed out the Scarlet Raptors' scoring in the 32nd minute, combining with freshman
Ava Stowell. One game after Horne notched her first collegiate point with an assist and Stowell had her first collegiate goal in a 3-0 win at King's College, they each picked up another collegiate first in points.
Rutgers-Camden finished with a 26-5 advantage in shots, while both teams had four corner kicks. Raptor senior goalie
Michaela Graham played the first half of the shutout without needing a save, while sophomore
Jordana Fredo completed the shutout with one second-half save.
Bryn Athyn also split goalie duties, with Smith making six saves in the opening held and junior
Chloe Munyon notching four saves in the second half.
Rutgers-Camden hosts John Jay College of Criminal Justice Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
