Marshall sparks indoor track team at Collegeville Classic
COLLEGEVILLE, Penn. (Jan. 19, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden indoor track team set a program record with its first time running the Mixed 4x400 relay and sophomore
Sydnie Marshall finished first with a PR in the 300-meter dash as the Scarlet Raptors competed at the Collegeville Classic, held here Sunday at Ursinus College.
Marshall finished first of nine athletes in the women's 300-meter dash (44.48) and joined freshman
Antonio Busbee, junior
Isabella Bordon and junior
Walter Pierce on the Mixed 4x400 squad, which finished third of seven teams in a time of 4:05.02. The performance capped a big weekend for Marshall, who set PRs in the 60-meter dash (8.66) and 200-meter dash (27.70) on Friday at the NYC Gotham Cup.
In addition to running with the Mixed 4x400, Bordon tried three new events to earn PRs in the shot put (ninth of 10, 6.68 meters) and the high jump (fourth of four, 1.30 meters). She also qualified for the 60-meter dash finals by finishing sixth of nine athletes (9.22). She finished sixth of seven in the finals with a PR of 9.09.
Pierce, meanwhile, set a PR of 9.97 meters to finish eighth of 13 in the shot put.
Sophomore
Mya Cabanas Montero earned a PR in both the women's shot put (10th of 10, 6.16 meters) and the weight throw (fifth of six, 8.67 meters). In those same events on the men's side, freshman
Emmanuel Richardson finished 12th of 12 in the weight throw (a PR of 6.11 meters) and 13th of 13 in the shot put (7.83 meters).
In addition to Marshall in the 300-meter dash, junior
Evelyn Macias Pilco finished fifth (51.43), junior
Xochitl Bautista-Castelan was sixth (51.71) and freshman
Rokhaya Dabo was seventh (53.13), with each player earning a PR time. Macias Pilco also finished seventh of nine in the women's 200-meter dash (31.61), while Bautista-Castelan was eighth (32.98) and freshman
Katelynn Aurelus made her Raptor debut placing ninth (a PR of 33.53).
In the men's 200-meter dash, sophomore
Ben Wilson set a PR of 24.87, finishing eighth of 16.
In the men's 300-meter dash, freshman
Yoel Bernard finished 12th of 14 with a PR of 41.74.
Sophomore
Angel Chaj placed 15th of 16 in the men's mile (5:43.05).
Rutgers-Camden will compete in the Winter Evening Invite on Friday at the University of Pennsylvania.
