CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 1, 2025) – Both the Rutgers University-Camden and Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer teams had some scoring chances in their New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
Neither team could find the back of the net, however, as they played to a 0-0 tie. The scoreless draw continued a trend that has persisted since Newark posted a 2-1 overtime win against the Raptors in 2021. Since then, neither team has scored more than one goal in the five games, including a playoff contest in 2022.
The scoreless tie was the fifth 0-0 draw for the Scarlet Raptors this season, who stand at 1-4-5 overall and 0-1-1 in NJAC play. The Scarlet Raptors lead the all-time series, 15-5-6.
Rutgers-Newark is 6-4-1 and 0-1-1.
Camden held a 10-9 edge in shots, while Newark had a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Scarlet Raiders also had a 5-1 lead in corner kicks, but neither team could beat the opposing freshman goalie.
Giselle Lizardi made six saves for the Raptors and Shaina Sackett had five saves for the Scarlet Raiders.
The Scarlet Raptors play another NJAC game on Saturday when they travel to Glassboro to face the nation's 18th-ranked team, Rowan University, at 5 p.m.
