WILKES-BARRE, Penn. (Oct. 18, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team lost its first match of a tri-match here Saturday at Wilkes University, but the Scarlet Raptors bounced back to win their second match with a 3-1 victory over Hood College.
Rutgers-Camden (9-13) dropped a four-set match against host Wilkes, 25-14, 18-25, 24-26 and 21-25 before defeating Hood, 25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-14.
In the third match of the day, Wilkes swept Hood, 25-16, 25-19, 25-10.
The Scarlet Raptors host William Paterson University on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. New Jersey City University match.
Wilkes 3, Rutgers-Camden 1
After winning the opening set against Wilkes, the Scarlet Raptors saw the home team rattle off the next three sets, including a tight 26-24 victory in the third set.
Junior outside hitter
Sophia Granieri had 11 kills and sophomore middle blocker
Gabby Gbolahan added nine kills, hit .300 and added a match-high four service aces for the Scarlet Raptors.
Freshman setter
Cassie Guim collected a match-high 36 assists and added 14 digs for a double-double.
Junior libero
Mia Owens had 18 digs for Rutgers-Camden, while freshman defensive specialist
Ella Carmen Truitt added 10 digs.
Rutgers-Camden 3, Hood 1
The Scarlet Raptors bounced back to capture their second match of the day behind another strong performance from Guim, who had 30 assists, eight digs, two kills, one service ace and one solo block.
Granieri notched 12 kills, freshman outside hitter
Asha Pensa Johnson had 11 and Truitt added eight for the Scarlet Raptors. Truitt also added 13 digs.
Owens led the way with 28 digs and junior defensive specialist
Madison Snelgrove added 10.
Gbolahan had four of the Scarlet Raptors' 10 service aces.
