Tamea El hit a jumper with 18 seconds remaining and the Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball team hung on to edge The College of New Jersey, 54-53, in a wild New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
The win was the Raptors' first over the Lions since Jan. 18, 2017, in Camden by a 69-40 score, snapping a 16-game losing streak against TCNJ. The Lions still lead the all-time series, 70-13.
The victory lifts Rutgers-Camden to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the NJAC, while the Lions fall to 2-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
In a tight game throughout, the Raptors built a 30-26 halftime lead only to watch rally to build a 52-44 lead late in the fourth quarter and hold a 53-46 lead with 3:24 remaining. Rutgers-Camden scored the final eight points from there, with a run sparked by two foul shots from sophomore guard

Courtney Edmundo scored on a layup to slice the deficit to 53-50 and she hit a pair of foul shots with 1:13 remaining to make it a one-point game. After a missed three-pointer by the Lions, Raptor sophomore guard
Mya Patino grabbed the rebound, and Edmundo fed El for the eventual game-winning shot with 18 seconds remaining.
The Scarlet Raptors used a pair of fouls to slow the Lions' attack in the last 10 seconds, forcing TCNJ to make a desperation three-point attempt with one second remaining that was off the mark.
Goodwine paced the Scarlet Raptors with 21 points, tying her career high set on Jan. 25, 2025, against Ramapo. Edmundo scored 15 points and added 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Freshman guard
Tamyia Collier, who was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week on Monday, had five points and eight rebounds, while El had six boards and five points, including the game-winning shot.
Senior guard Katie Fricker scored 16 points for TCNJ. Sophomore guard Amanda Baylock, who was the NJAC Player of the Week on Monday, added 12 points and tied the Raptors' junior guard
Gabriella Toledo with a game-high four assists.
The Scarlet Raptors shot 19-for-63 (30.2 percent) from the floor and 11-for-14 (78.6) from the foul line, while the Lions went 19-for-58 (32.8) from the floor and 6-for-15 (40.0) from the line. Rutgers-Camden held a 46-43 edge off the boards.
The Scarlet Raptors close out the first semester with a 1 p.m. NJAC game at Montclair State University on Saturday.
