MONTCLAIR, N.J. (Dec. 13, 2025) – Sophomore forward Alyssa Craigwell scored 20 points to lead three Montclair State University players in double figures as the Red Hawks defeated Rutgers University-Camden,69-56, here Saturday in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
Montclair State (7-1 overall/4-1 NJAC) scored the first seven points of the game and the closest the Scarlet Raptors came after that was a 12-8 deficit. By halftime the Red Hawks led, 34-20, and although the Scarlet Raptors had a 17-12 edge in the third quarter, the closest they came in the second half was 43-35.
The victory was the 12th straight over Rutgers-Camden for the Red Hawks, who own a 56-17 lead in the all-time series.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play in its final game before the holiday break.
Craigwell finished with a double-double, adding a game-high 12 rebounds to her day, in addition to dishing off five assists. The Red Hawks also received 15 points from junior guard/forward Bella Bruce and 13 from senior guard Alexis Strollo. Junior guard Samantha Phillipp collected nine points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Hope Goodwine led Rutgers-Camden with a game-high 22 points, setting a career high, while adding six rebounds and three assists. Junior guard/forward
Tamea El collected 15 points and seven rebounds, while freshman forward
Zairra Galloway had seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
Montclair State shot 25-for-55 (45.5 percent) from the floor and 12-for-19 (63.2) from the foul line, while Rutgers-Camden shot 19-for-65 (29.2) from the floor and 15-for-23 (65.2) from the line.
Montclair State held a 47-36 advantage off the boards.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action on Jan. 3 with a non-conference game at Centenary University, beginning at 12 p.m.
