HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Jan. 3, 2026) – Junior forward Vatijah Davis scored a game-high 30 points and the Centenary University women's basketball team outscored Rutgers University-Camden, 27-18, in the final quarter to spoil a Scarlet Raptor comeback and post a 72-68 victory in a non-conference game here Saturday.
Centenary (7-4) opened the game with a 21-8 first-quarter run, but the Scarlet Raptors (6-6) overtook the Cylones by outscoring them, 42-24, over the middle two quarters. Rutgers-Camden held a 50-45 lead entering the final quarter.
After slicing its halftime deficit to 38-29 and trailing 42-32 early in the third quarter, Rutgers-Camden went on a 14-3 run, taking the lead at 46-45 with 53 second left in the quarter on a layup by sophomore forward

Hope Goodwine made it a 50-45 game entering the final quarter before Centenary rallied.
After a layup by Goodwine extended the Scarlet Raptors' lead to 52-45, Centenary rattled off 11 straight points to take the lead for good. The first seven points in that run came from Davis, who shot 12-for-22 from the floor in the game, including 2-for-5 from three-point range, and 4-for-8 from the foul line.
In addition to Davis, the home team received 13 points apiece from senior guard Kayla Sampong and freshman guard Ashanti Dewalt.

Tamyia Collier scored 16 and Edmundo added 15. Rutgers-Camden junior guard/forward
Tamea El and Centenary's Sampong tied for game-high rebounding honors with eight apiece.
Centenary shot 25-for-64 (39.1 percent) from the floor, while Rutgers-Camden shot 26-for-57 (45.6), but scored six more points from the foul line (18-12) and made seven fewer turnovers (26-19). Rutgers-Camden held a 39-34 advantage off the boards.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action on Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game at Stockton University.
