Track team ends first semester in record-setting fashion at Seahawk Shootout

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Dec. 12, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden indoor track team set or tied five program records here Friday as the Scarlet Raptors finished the fall semester at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout.
 
The event, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, saw freshman Talia Thomasson etch her name in a pair of women's program records, while the men set or tied three other program marks.

Thomasson broke the program mark at 600 meters with a time of 1:52.29, breaking the mark of 1:53.82 set by Courtney Childress at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout on Dec. 9, 2016. Thomasson also joined junior Sydnie Marshall and freshmen Haely Cookhorn and Sofia Tabet to set a record of 1:51.89 in the women's 4x200 relay. The old mark of 1:53.39 was set on March 6, 2020, at the ECAC Championships by Imani Johnson-Young, Kaila English, Lizette Abah and Kayana Clue.
 
Thomasson finished 27th of 33 in the 600-meter run, while the Raptors' 4x200 team placed 20th of 21. Thomasson also finished 48th of 51 in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 10.88, while Marshall and Cookhorn placed 57th and 77th out of 105 athletes, respectively, in the 300-meter dash in times of 43.80 and 45.71. Marshall set the 300-meter record of 43.57 at the FastTrack Season Opener on Dec. 5.
 
On the men's side, junior Jacob Dinerman finished sixth out of 58 athletes while setting a program record of 8:37.41 at 3,000 meters. The old mark of 8:38.73 was held by Alec Connelly, who set that record on March 3, 2012, at the ECAC Championships.
 
Freshman Willyam Dupreville set a new mark of 13.35 meters in the triple jump, breaking the old record of 13.00 by Justin Edmonds on Feb. 23, 2009, at the ECAC Championships. Another freshman, Jayden Deleon, tied his own mark of 2.05 meters in the high jump, set last Friday, Dec. 5, at the FastTrack Season Opener at Ocean Breeze. Deleon finished second out of 16 in the high jump competition, while Dupreville was 12th of 37 in the triple jump.
 
Sophomores Josiah Saint Elien and Kristopher Ewell nearly added another mark for the men at they posted times of 1:26.10 and 1:26.11, respectively to finish 25th and 26th in the 600-meter run. The program record is 1:26.07.
 
Saint Elien, Dinerman, Ewell and senior Walter Pierce combined to help the Rutgers-Camden men's 4x400 A team finish ninth out of 33 programs in a time of 3:25.70.
 
In the men's mile, freshman Dylan Davies finished 46th of 63 in a time of 5:05.96, while freshman Justin Harms placed 30th of 53 in the long jump (6.03 meters). Dupreville was 34th in the long jump at 6.00 meters.
 
Junior Dyheim Watson finished 27th of 67 with a shot put of 12.48 meters and 14th of 57 in the weight throw with a distance of 14.21 meters.
 
Senior Kayla Franklin paced the women's team in the throwing events, finishing 10th of 48 athletes in the shot put (11.11 meters) and 33rd of 49 in the weight throw (10.70 meters).
 
Rutgers-Camden will return to action in the new year when it competes in the NYC Gotham Cup, which will be held January 16 at Ocean Breeze.
