PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (Feb. 23, 2025) – Rutgers University-Camden junior Jacob Dinerman captured the New Jersey Athletic Conference title in the men's mile run and finished second in the 3,000-meter run here Sunday at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Dinerman finished first in a field of 18 athletes in the mile, posting a time of 4:11.39 to finish two seconds ahead of the conference runner-up. The time was his second-fastest clocking of the season, barely missing the Rutgers-Camden program record of 4:10.92 that he set at the FastTrack National Invitational on February 7.

The NJAC title earned Dinerman his second All-Conference First Team honor of the scholastic year. He also was an All-NJAC First Team cross country runner during the fall season.Jacob Dinerman

Dinerman became the Scarlet Raptors' first NJAC indoor track champion since Jude Misko won the weight throw in back-to-back seasons in 2019-2020 and 2021-2022. Due to Covid-19, there wasn't any indoor season held during the winter of 2020-21. The 2019-20 season also saw Emily Hilt win the women's NJAC indoor championship in the shot put.

Dinerman becomes only the second athlete at Rutgers-Camden to earn NJAC First Team cross country honors and an NJAC indoor track championship in the same school year. During the 2008-09 year, Travis Stewart captured NJAC First Team honors in cross country before winning the conference indoor title in the 3,000-meter run.

In addition to his conference title in the mile, he placed second out of 15 runners at 3,000 meters, posting a PR of 8:41.01 to earn NJAC Second Team honors in that event.

The Rutgers-Camden men finished seventh out of nine teams at the conference meet, earning 26 points, while the Scarlet Raptor women finished ninth with four points. Rowan won the men's NJAC title with 278 points, while The College of New Jersey captured the women's crown with 179 points.

Junior Walter Pierce completed his two-day heptathlon competition by finishing second of six at 1,000 meters (a PR of 3:05.49), third in the pole vault (a PR of 2.80 meters) and fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.26). Overall, Pierce finished fourth out of six athletes in the heptathlon, while shattering the Rutgers-Camden program record with 3,897 points. The old mark of 2,446 points was set by Tom Meyer on Jan. 26-27, 2017 at the Widener Field Meet.

This month Pierce has set program records in both the pentathlon and the heptathlon.

In the 400-meter dashes, the Scarlet Raptors had a pair of fine performances as freshman Kristopher Ewell finished 10th of 25 in the men's race (50.66) and sophomore Sydnie Marshall placed 13th of 20 among the women (a PR of 1:03.92).

Marshall also finished 18th of 25 in the women's 200-meter dash (27.46), while sophomore Robert Bayard was the Raptors' top runner in the men's 200-meter dash, placing 16th of 29 in a time of 23.04, missing his PR time by .01.

Sophomore Dyheim Watson completed a successful weekend by finishing seventh of 17 in the men's weight throw with a PR distance of 14.39 meters. On Saturday, he had a shot put of 12.07 meters to place 10th of 21.
