CAMDEN, N.J. (March 26, 2025) – Graduate student
Jack Murphy set the program career record for games played and five Rutgers University-Camden pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout as the Scarlet Raptors defeated Ursinus College, 6-0, on a cold night here Wednesday.
Murphy, the Scarlet Raptors' designated hitter, played in his 155th career game. He broke a tie for the program's all-time record with another Murphy, right fielder Brian Murphy, who played 154 games between 2001-04.
Rutgers-Camden, which received 69 votes toward Tuesday's ABCA Top 30 poll and 41 votes toward this week's D3basesball.com Top 25 poll, improved to 13-5. Ursinus, which received seven votes this week toward the ABCA poll, fell to 13-7.

D.J. Juliano closed out the shutout, combining to allow only two hits and three walks the rest of the way, while striking out four.
Rutgers-Camden scored the only run it needed in the first inning after a one-out double by junior second baseman
Frankie Romond. He advanced to third on a two-out infield single by senior first baseman
Diego Salazar and scored on a single by senior third baseman
Ryan Nutley.
The Scarlet Raptors scored another run in the second inning after junior left fielder
Isaiah Pinkney walked and stole second base. He advanced to third on a ground out by sophomore right fielder
Brandon Petrick and scored on a single by sophomore catcher
Julian Gonzalez.
The Scarlet Raptors' two-run third inning featured a leadoff double by Salazar, an RBI single by Nutley and an RBI double by Petrick.
In the seventh inning, Murphy had a one-out single and was replaced by freshman pinch-runner
John Marcucci, who moved to second base on an errant pickoff attempt. Petrick collected an RBI single to plate Marcucci.
The Scarlet Raptors added their final run in the eighth inning after Dubler walked, stole second and was sacrificed to third by Romond. Senior center fielder
Steven Shaffer drove him home with a single.
Rutgers-Camden collected 12 hits in the game, including two apiece by Romond, Salazar, Nutley and Petrick. Both Nutley and Petrick collected a pair of RBIs.
The Scarlet Raptors open their New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday when they host New Jersey City University in a doubleheader, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
