CAMDEN, N.J. (March 31, 2025) – Senior catcher Kendall Lafferty had a huge week for the Rutgers University-Camden softball team in four games last week. As a result, Lafferty was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week today when the NJAC honored student-athletes in eight sports.

Lafferty hit .692 (9-for-13) during the Scarlet Raptors' four games last week, including a torrid 7-for-7 during a NJAC doubleheader split against New Jersey City University on Saturday. One of those hits was a game-tying RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning during the Raptors' opening-game win.

Lafferty added two runs, two RBIs, a .769 slugging percentage, one walk and a .714 on-base percentage during the week, while also going 1-for-2 on stolen base attempts.

For the season, Lafferty has started all 17 games for the Scarlet Raptors, while leading the team with a .373 batting average and 19 hits. She is tied for the team lead with three stolen bases.

Lafferty becomes the Scarlet Raptors' first NJAC Softball Player of the Week since Katie Larson won it on March 21, 2016, although Rutgers-Camden has had several Rookies of the Week and Pitchers of the Week since then. Last year alone, both Gianna Bauer (March 11 and March 18) and Alana Gannon (April 15) earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors, while Sammie Friel (April 1 and April 15) and Anna Milillo (March 25) captured NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week awards.

A two-year letterwinner at Rutgers-Camden after transferring to the school from NJAC opponent Ramapo College, Lafferty has started 57 of her 58 career games for the Scarlet Raptors. In addition to her NJAC Player of the Week honor, Lafferty also was named Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Monday.

Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC action with a doubleheader at Ramapo College on Tuesday.
