MAHWAH, N.J. (April 1, 2025) – Ramapo College pitchers Kassy Stefanski and Marissa DiPaolo combined to limit Rutgers University-Camden to nine hits and two runs as the Roadrunners swept a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader from the Scarlet Raptors here Tuesday.
Ramapo won the opener, 4-1, behind Stefanski's four-hitter and DiPaolo allowed five hits in the nightcap, which ended after five innings by the eight-run mercy rule with the Roadrunners winning, 9-1.
Ramapo, which has been ranked as high as #25 in the NFCA Division III Top 25 poll this season, improves to 17-2 overall and 3-1 in the NJAC.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-16 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The Roadrunners have won seven straight games against the Scarlet Raptors and 14 of their last 15 contests.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Thursday with a 4 p.m. non-conference doubleheader at Centenary University in Hackettstown.
Ramapo 4, Rutgers-Camden 1
The Roadrunners scored four unearned runs over the first two innings on their way to the victory, taking advantage of two hits, three errors, one walk and one hit batsman. A two-out error plated a run in the first inning and a pair of errors contributed to a three-run second inning.
Sophomore third baseman
Alana Gannon hit a two-out solo home run in the sixth inning for the Scarlet Raptors' lone run, while sophomore second baseman
Madi Carr went 2-for-3 as the only player in the game with multiple hits.
Stefanski (7-1), a junior, picked up the win for the Roadrunners, allowing four hits, one earned run and no walks. She struck out five.
Rutgers-Camden freshman
Izzy Carels (0-3) took the loss despite not allowing an earned run. She hurled a four-hitter, walking three and striking out three.
Ramapo 9, Rutgers-Camden 1
Leading, 4-1, entering the bottom of the fifth inning, the Roadrunners walked off the game with five runs, aided by three hits, three hit batters and two walks.
Ramapo broke a scoreless deadlock with one run in the bottom of the third inning and scored three more times in the fourth. Rutgers-Camden scored its lone run in the top of the fifth inning on a one-out single by junior shortstop
Gianna Bauer, who reached third base on an infield throwing error. She scored on a sacrifice fly by Gannon.
DiPaolo, a senior, raised her record to 8-1, allowing five hits and one unearned run. She didn't walk any batters and struck out two.
Sophomore
Sammie Friel (0-8) took the loss, working four innings and allowing eight hits, three walks and six runs, four of them earned. She struck out one.
Carr went 2-for-2 in the game for the Scarlet Raptors, ending her day with a 4-for-5 performance in the doubleheader. Gannon drove home both Raptor runs in the twinbill.
