GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 15, 2025) – The Stockton University softball team held Rutgers University-Camden to five hits and posted two shutouts in a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep here Tuesday.
The Ospreys won both games in shortened fashion by the eight-run rule mercy rule, taking the opener, 8-0 in six innings, and the nightcap, 12-0 in five innings.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 4-25 overall and 2-10 in the conference, while Stockton improves to 19-11 overall and 7-5 in the NJAC.
The Scarlet Raptors host NJAC rival William Paterson University in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
Stockton 8, Rutgers-Camden 0
In the opening game, Stockton senior Nerina Tramp tossed a four-hit shutout and the Ospreys ended the game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs to win by the eight-run mercy rule.
Tramp raised her record to 10-4, striking out seven without a walk. She allowed only four singles, with two of them by freshman center fielder
Ryleigh Lender and one apiece by sophomore designated player
Devyn Jordan and senior catcher
Kendall Lafferty.
Stockton, meanwhile, collected 10 hits, including eight off sophomore starter
Sammie Friel (1-11) and two off sophomore reliever
Anna Milillo. Senior shortstop Emily Spencer went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Ospreys, while junior left fielder Caitlin Cetrulo went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Senior right fielder Brianna Segnello went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Stockton 12, Rutgers-Camden 0
Leading, 1-0, heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, Stockton exploded for 11 runs on seven hits, two errors, two hit batsmen and one walk to put the game away.
Junior second baseman Maggie Formichelli went 2-for-3 with two runs, three RBIs and four stolen bases to lead a nine-hit Stockton attack. Sophomore first baseman Alexa Panagopoylos also went 2-for-3, scoring one run and driving home one.
Stockton senior Mia Barone allowed only one hit over four innings while raising her record to 4-0. Freshman Casey Sokol finished off the game with a scoreless fifth inning, walking one and striking out two.

The Scarlet Raptors' lone hit was a first-inning single by Lender, who collected three of the Raptors' five hits in the doubleheader.
