Franklin paces Rutgers-Camden at Ursinus Track & Field Festival

COLLEGEVILLE, Penn. (April 5, 2025) – Junior Kayla Franklin completed a stellar weekend in which she set a PR in four throwing events as the Rutgers University-Camden outdoor track program competed Saturday on the final day of the Ursinus Track & Field Festival.
 
Franklin finished ninth of 46 in the shot put (10.67 meters), 12th of 44 in the discus (32.87 meters) and sixth of 35 in the javelin (32.28 meters) on Saturday to post three PR distances after setting a PR in the hammer throw (23.65 meters) on Friday.
 
Senior Franis Hill finished 23rd in the shot put (9.21 meters) and 15th in the javelin (26.85 meters) for the Raptor women. The men's throwers, meanwhile, were led by sophomore Dyheim Watson, who finished 19th of 47 in the shot put (11.75 meters) and 31st of 48 in the discus (31.03 meters) after posting his PR in the hammer throw (42.92 meters) on Friday.
 
On the track, sophomore Matogoma Meite shaved over two seconds off her old PR as she finished 15th of 48 in the women's 100-meter dash (13.49). while sophomore Sydnie Marshall placed 14th of 52 in the women's 200-meter dash with a PR of 27.36. Sophomore A'Maya Stanard was 26th in the 200-meter dash (a PR of 28.32), while junior Angelina Cellucci was 41st (32.61).
 
In the 80-athlete field of the men's 200-meter dash, both freshmen Josiah Saint Elien and Antonio Busbee set a PR, finishing 55th (24.34) and 61st (24.65), respectively.
 
Sophomore Hector Diaz had a fine performance in the men's 110-meter hurdles, placing eighth out of 23 (16.10).
 
The women's 4x100 relay placed sixth of nine teams (53.84) aided by Marshall, Stanard, freshman Katelyn Aurelus and junior Deleon Foster. Stanard, Marshall and Foster joined freshman Rokhaya Dabo on the women's 4x400, which finished ninth of 12 teams (4:31.15).
 
The men's 4x400 placed 20th of 27 (3:40.69) behind Diaz, Busbee, and freshmen Marcus Brown and David Machado.
 
The Scarlet Raptors will return to action for the three-day TCNJ Invite & Multi meet Thursday through Saturday.
