BALTIMORE, Maryland (May 17, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden baseball team brought a five-game post-season winning streak into its NCAA regional winners' bracket game here Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately the Scarlet Raptors had to deal with the 22-game winning streak by the nation's top-ranked team, Johns Hopkins University.

The Blue Jays (41-3) increased their streak to 23 straight wins as they defeated the Scarlet Raptors, 8-3, and dropped Rutgers-Camden (30-16) into an elimination game later in the day. It was Hopkins' second win this season against Rutgers-Camden, including a 9-4 victory in Florida during spring break on March 17.

In the first game of the day, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (30-15) scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to eliminate Farmingdale State (26-16), 5-4, and stay alive in the losers' bracket.

The results set up the second game between Rutgers-Camden and Rensselaer in two days. In the Baltimore Regional opener on Friday, the Scarlet Raptors scored three times in the bottom of the ninth inning to edge the Engineers, 6-5. The winner will need to defeat Johns Hopskins twice on Sunday if it hopes to win the regional pod.

Johns Hopkins, ranked first nationally in both the D3baseball.com Top 25 poll and the ABCA Division III Top 30 poll, scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and led from wire to wire. Senior first baseman Dillon Souvignier put the Blue Jays ahead to stay with a two-out, three-run home run.

The Scarlet Raptors got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning on singles by junior second baseman Frankie Romond and graduate first baseman Jack Murphy, setting up a sacrifice fly to center by senior third baseman Ryan Nutley. Johns Hopkins bounced back with its own run in the bottom of the fourth on a ground rule double by graduate second baseman Jimmy Stevens and an RBI single from junior designated hitter Lukas Geer.

Rutgers-Camden closed the gap to 4-3 in the top of the fifth on the first career home run by sophomore Brice Bradley. He hit a two-run pinch-hit shot to left field following a walk to freshman shortstop Chris Smith. Hopkins, however, got those runs back in the bottom of the frame on a two-run home run by graduate catcher Caleb Cyr. The Blue Jays added their final runs in the sixth inning on a two-run double by Geer.

Geer finished the game going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Stevens went 2-for-4 with two runs. Souvignier went 1-for-4 with his three-run home run.

Graduate pitcher Kieren Collins (8-1) picked up the win, working eight innings and allowing seven hits, two walks and three earned runs. He struck out eight.

Senior Daniel Robeson (3-4) took the loss for the Scarlet Raptors, working 5.1 innings and allowing nine hits, two walks and eight earned runs. He didn't collect any strikeouts.

Murphy paced the nine-hit Scarlet Raptor attack, going 2-for-4, while Bradley went 1-for-2 with his two-run home run.
