Rutgers-Camden soccer programs repeat USC Team Academic Award honors
CAMDEN, N.J. (August 1, 2025) – While the Rutgers University-Camden soccer teams continue making a name for themselves on the pitch, they continue adding impressive credentials in the classroom.
For the second consecutive year, both the men's and women's programs have earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, which recognizes soccer programs for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of 697 teams (414 women and 283 men) reached the team 3.0 GPA threshold, but only 151 schools had both of their men's and women's programs honored.
Rutgers-Camden, one of those 151 schools, accomplished that feat for the second consecutive year, earning the honor for the 2024-25 academic year after reaching the standard during the 2023-24 scholastic year as well. Last year the Scarlet Raptors were one of only 105 schools nationally to have both of their programs recognized.
USC Team Academic Awards
The Rutgers-Camden women, coached by
Kevin Luber, posted a 3.33 team GPA. The men's team, coached by
Tim Oswald, had a 3.17 GPA.
The Rutgers-Camden women placed 15 players on the New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Academic teams during the 2024-25 scholastic year, including NJAC Academic First Team member
Amy Maurer. The Scarlet Raptor men saw 17 players earn NJAC All-Academic honors, including First Team member
Ethan Dreyer and Second Team honoree
Nick Yurcho.
The women's team placed 27 players on the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the Fall 2024 semester, including 15 on the Dean's List and seven with a perfect 4.0 GPA:
Jazmin Brown, Alexa D'Ilio, Michaela Graham, Alyssa Monti, Maresa Savarese, Emilia Vallejos and Maurer. During the Spring 2025 semester, the women placed 24 players on the AD Honor Roll, with 14 on the Dean's List and six with a 4.0 GPA:
Kylie Barber, Asia Horne, Brianne Reeves, Mauer, Monti and Savarese.
The Scarlet Raptor men saw 29 players earn honors on the Fall 2024 Athletic Director's Honor Roll, including 20 on the Dean's List. During the Spring 2025 semester, 28 players qualified for the AD Honor Roll, including 21 on the Dean's List. Five of them posted a 4.0 GPA:
Justin Bamgboye, Rohan Castillo, Chris Clune, Aiden Kelley and
Jason Stearn.
Both Rutgers-Camden teams open their season with home games on Friday, August 29. The men host St. John Fisher University at 1 p.m., while the women host Stevenson University at 5 p.m.
