CAMDEN, N.J.. (Sept. 26, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team was hoping to post its first 3-0 start since the program was revived during the 2011-12 scholastic year, but the Scarlet Raptors fell short of that goal here Friday in a 5-2 loss against Eastern University.
The Eagles, playing their first dual match of the season, earned the point for doubles by winning two of the three matches. At first doubles, freshman
Max Cabida and junior
Julian Pinder posted a 6-4 win. Senior
Christopher Abacan and freshman
Isan Salamanca lost their match at second doubles, 6-0, and the duo of juniors
Mike Olsen and
John Brady dropped a close 7-5 decision in the third flight.
The Scarlet Raptors earned their two wins at first singles with Cabida (6-3, 4-6, 6-1) and at fourth singles behind the play of Olsen (6-0, 6-2). Pinder dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision at second singles, Abacan lost at the third flight (6-2, 6-0), Brady was defeated at fifth singles (6-0, 6-3) and Salamanca dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision in the sixth spot.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday with a 12 p.m. match at Penn State-Abington.
