GLASSBORO, N.J. (Jan. 28, 2026) – The Rutgers University-Camden and Rowan University women's basketball teams traded late-game heroics and lead changes throughout the night in a marathon game here Wednesday. It wasn't until the second overtime that the Profs finally built an insurmountable lead and went on to defeat the Scarlet Raptors, 80-73.
The loss snapped Rutgers-Camden's two-game winning streak and left the Raptors with a 10-9 record overall and a 7-5 mark in the NJAC. Rowan improved to 12-7 overall and 8-4 in the conference.
The teams entered the second overtime tied at 67-67 before junior guard/forward Haley Selmer put the Profs ahead to stay, 73-67, with three consecutive field goals. The closest the Scarlet Raptors came after that was 73-70 on a trey by senior guard
Tireya Wyatt.
Selmer's role in the second overtime was the latest in a long line of late-game starring performances, including the end of regulation when Rutgers-Camden tied the game at 59-59 at the buzzer on a layup by sophomore forward
Courtney Edmundo. She was assisted by sophomore guard
Hope Goodwine.
In the first overtime, Rutgers-Camden took a 62-59 lead on a three-pointer from junior guard
Gabriella Toledo. Edmundo added a pair of foul shots and Goodwine scored on a layup to make it a 66-60 Raptor lead, but in a game that had numerous twists and turns, Rowan rallied back. The Profs tied the game at 67-67 on a trey by senior guard Jess McLaughlin with 20 seconds left in the period, sending the game to a second overtime.
In a tight game all the way, Rowan broke a 48-48 fourth-quarter score when a trey by McLaughlin started a five-point run. Rutgers-Camden countered with its own five-point run, capped by a game-tying trey from sophomore guard
Mya Patino.
The two teams traded field goals twice down the stretch, with layups by Edmundo and Goodwine for the Raptors helping to tie the game at 55-55 and 57-57. Rowan regained the lead with 55 seconds remaining on a jumper by sophomore guard Abigail Jazmin, but the Scarlet Raptors sent the game into overtime at the buzzer, with Goodwine feeding Edmundo for a game-tying layup.
Selmer finished with a game-high 20 points, while senior guard Jes Mastriano notched 16, freshman guard Ava Kraybill netted 14 and freshman guard Megan Donelson added 12 for Rowan. Donelson also had 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Rutgers-Camden received 19 points and four assists from Goodwine, while both Edmundo and junior guard/forward
Tamea El had double-doubles. Edmondo scored 18 points, notched 16 rebounds and added four assists and three blocked shots during her fifth straight double-double. It was her 10th double-double of the season. El, meanwhile, notched her four double-double of the year with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Wyatt added 12 points, while Patino tied Goodwine and Edmundo for team-high honors with four assists.
Rowan shot 30-for-74 (40.5 percent) from the floor and 16-for-30 (53.3) from the foul line, while holding a 47-46 edge in rebounding. Rutgers-Camden shot 25-for-65 (38.5) from the floor, including 9-for-20 (45.0) from three-point range. The Scarlet Raptors went 14-for-21 (66.7) from the foul line.
Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC action on Saturday with a 3 p.m. home game against Montclair State University.
