CAMDEN, N.J. (Jan. 31, 2026) – Senior forward Jacob Morales scored 24 points to lead four players in double figures as the nationally-ranked Montclair State University men's basketball team defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 84-58, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.
The Red Hawks, fifth ranked in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, raised their record to 20-0 overall and 13-0 in the NJAC with their 11th straight win over Rutgers-Camden in the head-to-head series. They lead the all-time series, 66-11.
Rutgers-Camden fell to 10-9 overall and 5-8 in the conference.
The Scarlet Raptors held their only leads early in the first half at 2-0 and 4-3. Montclair State took the lead for good, 5-4, on a layup by junior guard Ahmad Robertson, sparking an eight-point Red Hawk run. Montclair State led by 43-27 at halftime and held and led by 27 points, on three occasions, in the second half.
In addition to Morales, sophomore guard Kabrien Goss scored 15 points for the Red Hawks, Robertson had a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, and sophomore forward Myles Primas added 10 points. Goss also dished off a game-high eight assists.
Senior forward
Cameron Downs led the Scarlet Raptors with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds to notch his second double-double of the season and the 13th of his career. Downs' 23 points moved him into second place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,567 points. He passed Reggie Owens, who scored 1,545 from 1981-85.

Gardy Etienne added 11 points and senior guard
Eric Benjamin canned 10 for the Scarlet Raptors, while sophomore guard
Keion Elliott had a game-high seven steals and tied sophomore guard
Ryan Senft with a team-high five assists.
Montclair State shot 34-for-63 from the floor (54.0 percent), including 8-for-24 from three-point range (33.3) and went 8-for-10 (80.0) from the foul line. The Red Hawks held a 41-31 advantage off the boards and forced 21 Rutgers-Camden turnovers.
Rutgers-Camden shot 20-for-58 (34.5) from the floor, including 6-for-30 (20.0) from three-point range. The Scarlet Raptors were 12-for-18 (66.7) from the foul line.
Rutgers-Camden returns to NJAC action on Wednesday when it plays a 7 p.m. NJAC game at The College of New Jersey.
