Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Nationally-ranked William Paterson outlasts Rutgers-Camden women

WAYNE, N.J. (Feb. 14, 2026) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball team hung tough for much of the game against the nationally-ranked William Paterson University Pioneers here Saturday.

In the end, the Pioneers pulled away to post a 58-46 victory for their 13th straight win, raising their record to 23-1 overall and 17-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Rutgers-Camden fell to 12-12 overall and 9-8 in conference play.

William Paterson, which was ranked 18th in this week's WBCA Coaches' Poll and received 24 votes toward the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, has won its last six games against Rutgers-Camden and leads the all-time series, 63-15. The last Raptor win in the series came in Wayne on Feb. 10, 2023, by a 64-55 score.

Down, 14-7, after one quarter, the Scarlet Raptors surged back to knot the game at 16-16 in the second quarter on a jumper by junior guard/forward Tamea El and later drew even at 20-20 on a layup by junior guard Gabriella Toledo. The Pioneers' senior forward Renee Wells scored the last two field goals of the half, giving Paterson a 24-20 lead at the break.

Wells had 10 points by halftime, but the scoring leader at the break was the Raptors' sophomore forward Courtney Edmundo, who had 11 points and led in rebounding with eight.

Although the Scarlet Raptors cut the gap to 24-22 when Toledo scored the first field goal of the second half, Paterson took charge of the game with a 24-11 third-quarter run. The Pioneers' lead was more than enough to withstand a 15-10 fourth-quarter run by the Scarlet Raptors.

Wells finished with a game-high 23 points for William Paterson. Edmundo had 22 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for Rutgers-Camden as she recorded her 10th straight double-double and the 15th of her season. Edmundo added two blocked shots, while El had a game-high four assists and Toledo tied for game-high honors with four steals.

Paterson shot 20-for-64 (31.3 percent) from the floor and 17-for-24 (70.8) from the line, while holding a 48-39 advantage off the boards. Rutgers-Camden shot 18-for-54 (33.3) from the floor and 7-for-13 (53.8) from the line.

The Scarlet Raptors made 24 turnovers, while the Pioneers had 15.

The Scarlet Raptors play their final regular-season game on Wednesday when they entertain New Jersey City University at 5:30 p.m.
