WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 21, 2026) – The Rutgers University-Camden baseball team ended its spring break trip to the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational here on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The Scarlet Raptors rode the strong pitching of juniors
Austin Wokock and
Gavin Cunard as they closed their southern swing with a 4-3 record in seven games, raising their overall season mark to 8-7.
Wokock kept the Pointers off the board through the first six innings, allowing seven hits and one walk, while striking out six. Rutgers-Camden, meanwhile, was held hitless by a pair of Wisconsin-Stevens Point hurlers through 3.1 innings. Junior center fielder
Jacob Watson collected the Scarlet Raptors' first hit with a one-out single up the middle in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Raptors finally broke the scoreless deadlock, scoring four runs, sparked by a leadoff walk to sophomore left fielder
Gavin McCaffrey. Sophomore first baseman
Ryan Joseph was hit by a pitch and one out later, sophomore third baseman
Will Gural singled home McCaffrey. Gural advanced to second base on a ground out, placing a pair of runners in scoring position. Junior second baseman
Austin Dubler reached on an infield throwing error that scored Joseph and, after a pitching change, sophomore shortstop
Chris Smith walked to load the bases. Watson followed with a two-run single.
The Pointers finally broke through against Wokock in the seventh inning on a two-out walk and an RBI double by senior designated hitter Kamden Oliver. Cunard ended the frame with a called strikeout.
Wokock finished his day working 6.2 innings, allowing eight hits, two walks and one earned run. He struck out eight while raising his record to 3-1. Cunard retired all seven batters he faced to earn his second save of the season and the seventh of his career. He struck out two.
Rutgers-Camden collected only three hits off of five Wisconsin-Stevens Point hurlers. Watson had two of them, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Gural had the other one, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Rutgers-Camden will resume its schedule up north on Tuesday when it plays a 3:30 p.m. game at Swarthmore College. The Garnet received six votes toward the D3baseball.com Top 25 poll this week.
