CAMDEN, N.J. (March 7, 2026) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball hosted its first ECAC playoff game here Saturday since a quarterfinal contest on Feb. 27, 2002, and the Scarlet Raptors didn't disappoint the home crowd.
Fourth-seeded Rutgers-Camden shook off a slow start with a 21-4 run in the second quarter and went on to race past fifth-seeded Cedar Crest College, 63-36. The victory, the Raptors' first ECAC win since the 2002 semifinals, lifts Rutgers-Camden into a semifinal contest on Saturday, March 14, at top-seeded McDaniel College. The game time is 1 p.m.
The Scarlet Raptors, who are 6-0 in ECAC home games over the years, improved to 15-13 this season. It is the most wins for the program since the 2018-19 team finished at 15-11.
Cedar Crest, which closes its season at 18-10, held a 9-4 lead after one quarter, but the Scarlet Raptors didn't take long to take the lead for good. Rutgers-Camden rattled off the first 14 points in the second quarter, taking the lead for good, 11-9, on a three-pointer by junior guard
Gabriella Toledo with 4:46 left in the half. The Scarlet Raptors held a 25-13 advantage at the break and increased their lead to 48-25 by the end of the third quarter. Midway through the fourth quarter the Scarlet Raptors held their biggest lead of the game, a 31-point margin at 59-28.
Freshman guard
Tamyia Collier led the Raptors with 15 points, aided by 7-for-12 shooting from the floor, including one three-pointer. Sophomore forward
Courtney Edmundo added 13 points for Rutgers-Camden, which placed eight players in the scoring column. Edmundo added a game-high five steals to tie her career high, accomplished twice previously.
Junior guard/forward
Tamea El tied her career high with a game-high four assists, while hauling down a game-high 10 rebounds to help Rutgers-Camden hold a 48-43 edge off the boards.
Junior forward Weronika Swojak paced Cedar Crest with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Rutgers-Camden shot 25-for-64 from the floor (39.1 percent) and 7-for-13 (53.8) from the foul line. Cedar Crest shot 15-for-58 (25.9) from the floor and 4-for-11 (36.4) from the line. The Scarlet Raptors also forced 22 turnovers by the Falcons.
