ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Rutgers-Camden women's volleyball team dropped its opening match in the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College on Friday, falling to CUNYAC power John Jay in four sets.
Set scores were 26-28, 25-18, 25-22, and 25-21.
Asha Pensa Johnson had a team-high 12 kills, with Gabby Gbolahan and Jana Jovanoic getting six each.
Nissi Wadieh had four blocks, with Gbolahan and Pensa Johnson adding three each.
Cassie Guim had 16 assists, with JoAnna Andrews collecting 13.
Defensively, Mia Owens had 24 digs, followed by Andrews with 12.
Rutgers-Camden will take on Hood and host Muhlenberg on Saturday on Day Two of the tournament.
