Senior Walter Pierce displayed his vast array of talents at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, wrapping up the meet on Friday by earning NJAC First Team honors after placing first of eight athletes in the heptathlon. Not only did he break his own program record by scoring 4,230 points in the heptathlon, he set five personal records in the seven events. Along the way he set PRs while winning the shot put (11.84 meters), finishing second in the high jump (1.77 meters) and pole vault (3.51 meters), placing fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.31) and finishing sixth in the long jump (5.84 meters). He also placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.36) and sixth in the 1,000-meter run (3:12.01).
