Second-half explosion lifts Stockton past Raptors, 5-0

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Richard Stockton College women's soccer team exploded for five second-half goals and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 5-0, in New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.

The Ospreys, who have won five out of their last six games, improve to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the NJAC.

Rutgers-Camden falls to 4-10-2 overall and 1-6 in the conference.

Richard Stockton holds a 13-1-2 lead in the all-time series and has won the last seven games against Rutgers-Camden.

After a scoreless first half, the Ospreys notched the eventual winning goal at 54:01 when junior forward Lexi Stasi (Cranbury, NJ/Princeton) tapped in a cross from freshman midfielder Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert).

Stockton broke open the game with four goals in the last 17 minutes, including three in a span of 4:44. Boucher added the next goal at 73:06, scoring off a rebound of a shot by freshman forward Laina Matus (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township). The Ospreys added another goal only 1:13 later when senior midfielder Briana Fischer (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) drove home a shot from the top of the box.

The three-goal flurry ended at 77:50 when Matus scored on a 20-yard free kick, the first of her two goals on the night. She finished the scoring at 84:19, assisted by senior midfielder Amanda Magana (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek).

Rutgers-Camden senior goalkeeper Leighanna Milby (Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional) made one save in the opening half, while senior Lauren West (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) played the second half, making two saves. For Richard Stockton College, senior Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Paul VI) notched her only save in the opening half.

Stockton outshot Rutgers-Camden, 20-3, including 14-2 in the second half. The Ospreys also held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. NJAC game at Ramapo College.
