Box Score MILLERSVILLE, Penn. – The Millersville University men's basketball team went on a 27-10 run midway through the second half and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 69-50, in the season opener for the Scarlet Raptors.

Senior guard
Nate Bollinger (York, PA/Eastern York) led the Marauders' run with nine points as Millersville overcame a 31-24 deficit. The host team took the lead for good with 11:02 remaining on a pair of foul shots by junior guard
Tyree Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Simon Gratz).
The Marauders' comeback spoiled a strong opening-night upset bid for the Division III Scarlet Raptors, who led most of the first half on their way to a 25-21 lead at the break. After opening the second half with a 6-3 run, the Raptors watched Millersville rattle off the next five points to start their big run.
Junior guard/forward
Teon Russell (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson), who averaged 15.9 points and 10.1 rebounds for the Raptors last season on his way to earning All-America Third Team status from DIII News, poured in 15 points in the first half. He added six rebounds in the opening 20 minutes and went on to finish with his 12th career double-double, collecting 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Junior guard/forward
Alex Smart (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek) added eight points and five rebounds in the opening half for the Raptors, while senior forward
Shaliek Johnson (Camden, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) had seven opening-half rebounds.
Smith led the Marauders with five first-half points before the home team came alive in the second half. Smith finished with a team-high 17 points, while Bollinger added 16 and freshman guard
Tavon Parker (York, PA/William Penn) added 11.
Junior forward
Xavier Mumford (Reading, PA/Reading) had a game-high 15 rebounds for Millersville, while senior guard
Brandon Brown (Philadelphia, PA/Cardinal Dougherty) added 10. Millersville held a 44-39 edge off of the boards.
For Rutgers-Camden, in addition to Russell, Smart finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Johnson grabbed eight boards.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Tuesday night with another non-conference road game. The Raptors play a 6 p.m. contest at Brooklyn College.
