Fiore's goal helps Rutgers-Camden go 2-0 at Drew Fall Festival

MADISON, N.J. – Freshman Catherine Fiore (Oaklyn, NJ/Paul VI) scored the lone goal of the game midway through the second half to power the Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team over Elms College, 1-0, and give the Scarlet Raptors the championship of the Drew Fall Festival here Sunday.

In the second game of the day, host Drew University edged Ramapo College, 1-0, in overtime.

Rutgers-Camden went 2-0 in the two-day event to even its record at 2-2. The Scarlet Raptors defeated Drew, 1-0, in double overtime Saturday.
Senior goalie Lauren West (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) made four saves to notch her second shutout of the weekend after saving 12 shots against Drew.

After being out-shot, 6-4, in a scoreless first half, the Scarlet Raptors held a 10-3 advantage in shots in the final 45 minutes against Elms, a school from Chicopee, Massachusetts.

The Blazers fell to 1-2 on the young season, losing both of their games over the weekend by shutout scores.

Fiore scored her first goal as a Scarlet Raptor at 64:07, off the rebound of her own shot.

Rutgers-Camden finished with a 14-9 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

West made two saves in each half to finish with four, while Elms sophomore goalie Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, NY/Mepham) finished with nine saves, including seven in the second half.

Rutgers-Camden returns to action Thursday with a 7 p.m. game at Widener University.
