CAMDEN, NJ – The Rutgers-Camden men's tennis team squared off against North Eastern Athletic Conference rival Penn State Abington this afternoon. The Scarlet Raptors beat the Nittany Lions 5-to-4. This victory moved Rutgers-Camden into first place in the
NEAC Standings.
To open the match, the Scarlet Raptors took two of three matches in doubles play.
Kevin Ziemba and
Michael Steinberger won 8-5 in the first spot. In the second spot,
Onkar Singh and
Drew Delengowski lost 8-3.
Lloyd Pearson and
Terry Long won 8-2 at third doubles.
With a 2-to-1 lead going into singles action the Scarlet Raptors knew they had to fight until the end.
Onkar Singh lost 6-1, 6-0 in the first spot.
Terry Long won 6-1, 6-4 in the second spot. At the third spot,
Kevin Ziemba lost 6-4, 6-2.
Lloyd Pearson lost 2-6, 7-5, and 7-5 in the fourth spot.
Michael Steinberger won 6-1, 6-2 in the fifth spot. It all came down to the sixth spot where
Drew Delengowski secured the win for the Scarlet Raptors with 7-5, 6-0 victory.
Rutgers-Camden (5-4, NEAC 3-0) will travel to Ramapo College (5-4, GNAC 1-0) on Thursday, April 10th at 4:30pm.
