Ramapo women blank Rutgers-Camden, 4-0

MAHWAH, N.J. (Oct. 10, 2015) – Senior midfielder Nicole Ninomiya (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) scored a pair of first-half goals and the Ramapo College women's soccer team went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 4-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.
 
Ramapo improves to 7-3-1 overall and 2-2-1, snapping a two-game losing streak.
 
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the NJAC with its fourth straight loss.
 
The victory was Ramapo's third in the last four years against Rutgers-Camden, narrowing the Scarlet Raptors' all-time series lead to 8-7-2.
 
The Roadrunners scored only 1:51 into the game when junior Kelsey Sutherland (Edison, NJ/Edison) assisted on the first of Ninomiya's two goals. Ninomiya notched her second goal of the game, and ninth of the season, at 16:17, assisted by senior Alexa Ragusa (Old Bridge, NJ/St. John Vianney).
 
The Roadrunners, who scored three of their four goals within the first or last 2:10 of each half, notched a goal only 1:06 before halftime when freshman Jessica Raccioppi (Maywood, NJ/Hackensack) notched her first collegiate goal, assisted by senior Autumn Herring (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat).
 
Only 2:10 into the second half, the Roadrunners added their final goal. Sophomore Gabriella DiLiberto (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was assisted by both Herring and Ragusa, who finished with two assists apiece.
 
Ramapo held a 26-12 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. Junior goalie Angela Martorano (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional) notched 11 saves for the Scarlet Raptors, one shy of her career high. Ramapo sophomore Jessica Cusick (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) collected the shutout with six saves.
 
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Wednesday when they host nationally-ranked The College of New Jersey in a 7 p.m. New Jersey Athletic Conference game. The Lions are currently ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA Division III Top 25 and No. 14 in the D3soccer.com poll.
