Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Penn. (Nov. 14, 2015) – The Penn State-Harrisburg men's basketball team placed four players in double figures as the Nittany Lions defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 82-64, in the season opener for both teams at the Penn State Harrisburg 2015 Tip-Off Tournament here Saturday.
In the other first-round game, Lebanon Valley College outlasted Roanoke College, 101-98.
Rutgers-Camden and Roanoke will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday in the consolation contest, followed by host Penn State-Harrisburg and Lebanon Valley College in the championship game at 3 p.m.
The Nittany Lions never trailed in the opener as they built leads of as many as 13 points in the opening half and a pair of 23-point margins (77-54 and 78-55) in the second half. Trailing by 20, at 54-34, the Scarlet Raptors went on a 19-9 run, cutting their second-half deficit to 10 points on a layup by senior guard
Shaun Thomas (Newark, NJ/St. Mary's of the Assumption) with 5:38 remaining. Harrisburg, however, outscored Rutgers-Camden, 19-11, the rest of the way for its 18-point win.
Junior forward
Austin Chimuma (Bowie, MD/Annapolis Area Christian) paced the winners with 13 points, while senior forward
Anthony Morgan (York, PA/New Hope Academy) added 12. A pair of players, senior forward
Arick Sodini (Manalapan, NJ/St. John Vianney) and junior guard
Jazmon Harris (Baltimore, MD/Patterson) both added 10 points.
Morgan also added eight rebounds as the Nittany Lions held a 49-32 advantage off the boards.
Rutgers-Camden received a career-high 13 points from junior guard
Davis Graham (Cinnaminson, NJ/Doane Academy), who passed his previous high of 12 scored last year against William Paterson University (Nov. 22, 2014).
Thomas and freshman guard
Elijah Robles (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) both added nine points for Rutgers-Camden.
Senior guard/forward
John Tatem (Camden, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) added seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.
