Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Rutgers University-Camden softball team put on its hitting shoes here Tuesday as it pounded out 21 hits in sweeping a pair of games at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.
The Scarlet Raptors (4-3) toppled Eureka, 13-5, in the opening game before posting a 5-1 decision against Mount Saint Vincent in the nightcap. Rutgers-Camden collected 21 hits in the two games, including a huge performance by junior third baseman
Katie Larson (Delran, NJ/Delran), who had three hits in each game and went 6-for-8 with two runs, four RBIs, two doubles, a home run and 11 total bases on the day.
Rutgers-Camden will have a pair of off days before completing its spring break schedule. On Friday the Raptors will play Frostburg State University at 9:30 a.m. and face York (NY) College at 1:30 p.m.

runs, two RBIs in first gameIn their first game of the day, the Scarlet Raptors banged out 13 hits and broke a 5-5 tie with a fourth-inning run en route to their second win over Eureka (0-5) in two days. The decisive run came in the fourth inning when senior left fielder
Devon Welsh (Maple Shade, NJ/Audubon) reached on a fielder's choice, stole two bases and scored on a single to center by sophomore right fielder
Jalene Garcia (Vineland, NJ/Vineland). The Scarlet Raptors added another run in the fifth on a RBI single by freshman winning pitcher
Samantha Sandridge (Friendswood, TX/Friendswood), who tossed her first complete game for her first collegiate victory. Sandridge also went 3-for-4 at the plate, adding two RBIs, and scattered seven hits on the mound in evening her record at 1-1. She allowed five runs (four earned) and four walks, while striking out four.
Rutgers-Camden put the game away with a five-run sixth inning, aided by four hits, two walks and two errors.
In addition to three hits by Sandridge, Garcia went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, while Larson went 3-for-5, including a pair of doubles, for one run and one RBI. Welsh stole three bases in the game and four in the doubleheader.

In the second game of the day, the Scarlet Raptors rode the eight-hit pitching of junior
Brittany Scott (Buena, NJ/Buena Regional) to the win over the Dolphins (0-6). Scott allowed only one first-inning run in raising her record to 3-2. She didn't walk a batter and struck out five.
