Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Florida – The Centenary College baseball team pounded out 19 hits on its way to a 10-2 victory over Rutgers University-Camden Thursday at the RussMatt Florida Central Invitational.
Centenary, out of Hackettstown, New Jersey, improves to 6-2 with its third straight victory. Rutgers-Camden has lost five straight to fall to 2-5.
After the Cyclones took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Rutgers-Camden grabbed a brief lead with a two-run fourth. Sophomore right fielder
Zach Ellin (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) led off with a single and moved up on a walk to sophomore second baseman
Joe Brooks (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic). They were sacrificed along by senior first baseman
Connor Hall (Delran, NJ/Delran) before Ellin scored on a fielder's choice by sophomore shortstop
Pedro Perez (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City). Junior left fielder
Frank Cerami IV (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) plated Perez with a double.
Centenary took the lead for good with a four-run sixth inning, aided by two walks and four hits, including a two-run single by sophomore designated hitter
Nick Daniele (Colts Neck, NJ/Red Bank Catholic). The Cyclones added two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth, aided by a two-run home run from Daniele, who went 3-for-4 with one run and four RBIs in the game.

Kevin Litus (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) and freshman shortstop
John Tierney (West Milford, NJ/West Milford) both went 4-for-5 for the Cyclones.
Ellin had two of the five hits the Raptors managed off a pair of Centenary pitchers. Starter
John Stanziale (Middletown, NJ/Mater Dei Prep) worked eight innings, allowing all five hits and two earned runs for the victory. Stanziale (1-0) walked three and struck out one.
Rutgers-Camden continues its spring break schedule at the RussMatt Florida Central Invitational Friday when it faces Trinity College (Hartford, Connecticut) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. The Scarlet Raptors end their spring break trip Saturday at 10 a.m., facing the nation's top-ranked team, defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater.
