Jayson Yano (Foothill Ranch, CA/El Toro) hurled seven strong innings and helped his own causes at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team over Rutgers University-Camden, 3-1, in a non-conference game here Sunday.
The Ducks improve to 20-10, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 17-12.

Danny McIntyre (Lakeway, TX/Lakeway) and
Ryan Patterson (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) shut down the Raptors for the final two innings, allowing one hit apiece.
Patterson struck out the first batter he faced before allowing a walk to sophomore shortstop
Pedro Perez (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) and a single to junior third baseman
Brett Tenuto (Audubon, NJ/Gloucester Catholic). He worked out of the jam with a strikeout and a fly out to record his eighth save of the season.
The Ducks scored single runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings against Raptor junior starter
Andrew Gottstein (Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg), who took the loss to drop his record to 2-2. He allowed nine hits, two walks and three earned runs in five innings, while striking out two.
Stevens junior center fielder
Jonathan Toro (Sanford, FL/Bishop Moore Catholic) opened the game with a double to left and moved up on a sacrifice by senior catcher
Gregg Nickels (Simpsonville, SC/Woodmont). Sophomore first baseman
Zeph Walters (Diamond Bar, CA/Diamond Bar) followed with a RBI single to center.
In the fourth, junior shortstop
Nick Sieber (Shrewsbury, MA/St. John's Shrewsbury) hit a one-out single, stole second and advanced to third on a single by senior right fielder
Brian Hennelly (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North). Sieber scored on a fielder's choice grounder by senior left fielder
Ryan Mannello (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Technical). The Ducks added their final run in the fifth on a walk and three singles, with Yano driving home Toro on an infield single.
Rutgers-Camden was held to only two hits over the first four innings by Yano – both singles by sophomore catcher
Jon Theckston (Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), who stretched his hitting streak to 14 games (22-for-52, .423).
In the seventh, Perez opened the frame with a double to left and moved to third on Tenuto's ground out to second. He scored on a ground out by sophomore right fielder
Zach Ellin (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee). For the day, Toro went 3-for-5 with two runs, while Walters and Yano each were 2-for-4 with one RBI for the Ducks.
Rutgers-Camden's eight-hit attack was led by Theckston, who went 3-for-4.
Raptor freshman
Kevin Terifay (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) turned in a fine performance in relief, hurling four shutout innings, while allowing only one hit. It was the longest stint of his young collegiate career.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Tuesday with a 4 p.m. non-conference game at Susquehanna University.
