Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GLENSIDE, Penn. – The Rutgers University-Camden softball team took a break from New Jersey Athletic Conference action here Thursday night, but the Scarlet Raptors didn't take a break from their winning ways.

Rutgers-Camden swept Arcadia University, 7-2 and 8-4, in a non-conference doubleheader to running its winning streak to three games. The Raptors have won four of their last five contests and have gone 13-2-1 since March 17. They raised their record to 15-5-1 overall, while Arcadia fell to 9-13.

Sophomore right fielder Jalene Garcia (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) paced the 24-hit Raptor attack in the twinbill, going a combined 5-for-7 with three runs and two RBIs.

The Raptors return to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. NJAC doubleheader at William Paterson University.

Rutgers-Camden 7, Arcadia 2
The Scarlet Raptors scored quickly in the first inning following a leadoff bunt single by Garcia. She advanced on a passed ball and a wild pitch before scoring on a sacrifice fly by junior pitcher Brittany Scott (Buena, NJ/Buena Regional).

The Raptors added three more in the fourth inning, setting the table by alternating singles by junior center fielder Lindsay Day (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and freshman catcher Samantha Sandridge (Friendswood, TX/Friendswood) around a pair of outs. With two outs, senior left fielder Devon Welsh (Maple Shade, NJ/Audubon) singled home a run and advanced on a throw. Garcia followed with a two-run single through the left side.

Doubles by Day and Sandridge produced another run in the fifth inning, with Sandridge knocking home Day. In the sixth, Welsh doubled, advanced on a fly out by freshman right fielder Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) and scored on a bunt single by freshman second baseman Taylor Nichols (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights). After Scott walked and a wild pitch advanced both runners, Nichols scored on a ground out by junior third baseman Katie Larson (Delran, NJ/Delran).

Scott, meanwhile, tossed a shutout until the seventh inning when freshman catcher Kaylee Zarick (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) tripled and later scored on a double steal. The Knights added their final run on a RBI single from junior left fielder Nicki Larro (Cedarville, NJ/Cumberland Regional). Scott (12-4) finished with a six-hitter, seven walks and three strikeouts, while allowing two earned runs.

Welsh, who went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run on Tuesday at The College of New Jersey, went 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI in the game. Garcia, Day and Sandridge added two hits apiece.

Rutgers-Camden 8, Arcadia 4
In the second game, Arcadia scored a pair of first-inning runs on two hits and an error. The Knights maintained that lead until the fifth inning, when the Raptors scored four times. Gurba, Welsh and Garcia set the table with singles before Nichols walked to force home a run. A wild pitch scored Welsh with the tying run and Garcia came home on a passed ball to give the Raptors a 3-2 lead. They added a fourth run in the frame after Scott walked. Larson hit a RBI single.

Rutgers-Camden hit Arcadia with another four-run frame in the sixth, once again sparked by Gurba. She had a leadoff walk and, one out later, the Raptors loaded the bases on bunt singles by Garcia and Nichols. Scott and Larson followed with back-to-back two-run singles.

The Knights notched an unearned run in the sixth and tacked on a run in the seventh on two walks and a single before Scott nailed down the victory. Scott earned her first save of the season, working three innings and allowing two hits and two runs, one unearned. She walked two and struck out four.

Sandridge (3-1) worked the first four innings to earn the win, allowing three hits and two runs, one earned. She walked three and didn't strike out a batter.

Offensively, leadoff batter Garcia went 3-for-5 with two runs, while cleanup hitter Larson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
