Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 4, 2015) – For the last several seasons, goals have been hard to come by for the Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team.
The new-look Scarlet Raptors, however, served notice here Friday that scoring woes may well be a thing of the past.

Catherine Fiore (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) notched a pair of goals and sophomore
Ashley Silva (Riverside, NJ/Riverside) and junior
Sara Bockius (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) added one apiece as Rutgers-Camden defeated Cabrini College, 4-1, in a non-conference game.
The Scarlet Raptors, who played two games in two days, evened their record at 1-1, while Cabrini fell to 0-2.
Rebecca Maguire The most goals Rutgers-Camden scored in one game last season was three, coming in an early-season 3-0 win over Elms College. They scored only 11 goals the rest of the season combined. Only twice in the past four seasons have the Raptors scored over three goals in a game before Friday night, coming in an 8-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College (Oct. 12, 2013) and a 6-0 victory over John Jay College (Oct. 1, 2012).
On Friday against Cabrini, the Raptors notched three in the first half alone, which were more than enough to give first-year Head Coach
David Hodgson his first victory at Rutgers-Camden.
Fiore, the team's leading scorer for the past two seasons, notched the first two goals at 13:23 and 22:14. Her first tally came at the back post following a corner kick by senior co-captain
Kelsey Tierney (Galloway, NJ/Absegami). Nine minutes later she broke past the defense, went one-on-one with Cabrini sophomore keeper
Alivia Dietsch (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter), cut to her left in the box and finished her second goal of the evening.
Silva collected her first career goal at 23:50, scoring after a loose ball near the right post was tapped to her by sophomore

Rachel FanrakRutgers-Camden held a commanding 12-5 advantage in shots during the first half as it constantly pinned the Cavaliers in their half of the field. The Raptors had a 20-11 advantage in shots for the game, along with a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Sara BockiusFiore nearly notched a hat trick in the 63rd minute when she hit the left post following a fine pass from Bockius, and shortly thereafter, the Cavaliers broke the Raptors' shutout bid. Sophomore
Brittany Runyen (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) sent a long pass up field that was finished by sophomore
Taylor Tralie (Sicklerville, NJ/Bishop Eustace) with a high shot from the right side.
The Raptors wrapped up the scoring at 78:11 when Bockius scored her second career goal, slipping a shot through a crowd at the back post.

Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) made four saves to pick up the victory in goal for the Scarlet Raptors. Dietsch had one save and allowed three goals in the opening half for Cabrini, while junior
Marissa Jenkins (Hamilton, NJ/Trenton Catholic) allowed one goal without a save in the second half.
Cabrini plays a 4 p.m. game at Eastern University Wednesday.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action next weekend at the Drew University Fall Fest in Madison, New Jersey. The Scarlet Raptors face Mount St. Mary College at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 and play the host team, Drew, in a 12 p.m. game on Sept. 13. The Scarlet Raptors return home Sept. 16 for a 4 p.m. game against the College of Mount St. Vincent.
