CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 26, 2016) – The Stockton University women's soccer team spent a good portion of its game here Wednesday night buzzing around the Rutgers University-Camden goal and coming away with nothing to show for it.

The Ospreys finally found that elusive goal on a strike by sophomore midfielder Abigayle Musto (Wall Township, NJ/Wall) in the 60th minute and went on to beat the Scarlet Raptors, 1-0, in the final regular-season New Jersey Athletic Conference game for both teams.

With the victory, Stockton finished the regular season at 12-6-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the NJAC, locking up fourth place and a first-round home game when the conference playoffs begin Saturday.

Rutgers-Camden closes its season at 4-10-2 overall and 2-7 in the NJAC. The loss was the eighth one-goal loss for the Raptors this season and their sixth straight. Out of their 10 defeats, six came against Top 25 teams.

Stockton's victory raised the Ospreys' record to 15-1-3 in the all-time series against Rutgers-Camden, including 9-0-1 in the last 10 games.

With a high-paced attack, Stockton swarmed around the Raptor goal for most of the first half, holding a 16-4 advantage in shots and a 6-2 margin in corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes. The Raptors had a pair of backsaves, including one right near the goal line by freshman back Haylee Loveland (Riverside, NJ/Riverside) among their seven first-half saves as junior goalie Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) kept busy.

Early in the second half, Stockton had a chance to break the scoreless deadlock when a foul in the box resulted in an Osprey penalty kick. Gurba, however, made a diving save to her left to deny senior midfielder Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and keep the game scoreless.

Three minutes later, the Ospreys scored the only goal they needed. Boucher sent the ball up the left side to senior forward Jill DiBlasi (Atco, NJ/Hammonton), who took it toward the corner and delivered a cross to the far post. Musto was there to finish off her fourth goal of the season.

Stockton finished with a 27-10 advantage in shots and a 10-4 lead in corner kicks. Sophomore keeper Nicole Pallante (Brick, NJ/Brick Township) made three saves to post the shutout, her seventh of the season.

Gurba finished with 11 saves for the Scarlet Raptors, hiking her career total to 198. She moved into third place on the career list with 531 shots faced, passing Lauren West (522 from 2012-13). She will start her senior season next fall with 3,489:18 minutes played in goal and will break the career mark of 3,498 set by Kristen Stewart (1998-01) early in her first game. She also needs only 17 more shots faced to tie Stewart at second place on the career list and only 25 more saves to tie West at 223 for third place on the all-time list.

The game also marked the final contest in the four-year career of senior forward Catherine Fiore (Collingswood, NJ/Paul VI), who led the Raptors in scoring in each of her four years. Fiore finished with 67 games played, tying for 21st on the program's all-time list. She also finished seventh in career goals (22), tied for sixth in game-winning goals (6) and tied for seventh in points (55).
